The United States is determined to ram through Bulgarianisation of Macedonia by calling upon ex US Ambassador to Macedonia Jess Baily, who played huge in erasing Macedonian’s name on behalf of Greece, to spin it.
In an interview for Voice of America, a mouthpiece for the US government, Baily was asked a serious of questions in light of the fifth anniversary of the signing of the Prespa Agreement, which he played a big part behind the scenes in facilitating. This 2018 greement led to Macedonia changing its name to appease Greece, which was blocking Macedonia’s entry into NATO and the European Union.
In the VOA (Macedonian language service) interview, Baily was pushing for Macedonia to accept Bulgarian blackmail, which requires it to change its constitution and include a Bulgarian minority in it, for Bulgaria to then remove its veto of Macedonia joining the European Union.
On the surface it might appear innocent but the real intention is for Bulgaria to make further demands, in effect hollowing out Macedonia from within, using the constitution as a legal prop.
Bulgaria’s minority numbers about 3,500 whose rights are already protected by Macedonian law and international conventions. In comparison Bulgaria refuses to accept the existence of a Macedonian minority within its borders despite numerous European Court of Human Rights verdicts urging Bulgaria do so.
What Baily and Bulgaria are really peddling is Bulgarianisation – Holocaust Denial, Anti Semitism, anti Macedonianism – which forcibly re-writes Macedonian history and gives it a Bulgarian narrative and whitewashes Bulgaria’s role in the Holocaust of Macedonia’s Jews in WWII. We have already witnessed Bulgaria’s real motivates – it sponsored the opening of two Bulgarian cultural clubs in Macedonia named after WWII Bulgarian Nazi collaborators, which after fierce international and domestic pressure these clubs were forced to change their names.
Bulgarianisation will set up Macedonia for partition within 5 to 10 years. The US already supports right wing Albanian Neo Nazi extremists. Adding Bulgarianess will be an explosive mix.
The US refuses to condemn the WWII Albanian Nazi statues in Macedonia, which symbolise a Greater Albania from WWII. Albanian Nazi German/Fascist Italian quislings in WWII cooperated with Fascist Bulgaria in the partition of Macedonia.
These statues were built post 2006 by an Albanian extremist in Macedonia, Nevzat Bejta, who is supported by the US and European Union.
The US’s stubborn refusal to condemn these WWII Albanian Nazi statues is the gauge or meter or radar which tells us the US’s real intentions, that is to partition Macedonia.
There are 4 US military bases in Bulgaria. This is important strategic real estate for Washington.
