EXTRAORDINARY – Global US Sports Cultural “unipolarity!”

Both here, in Australia, and globally sports culture has been transformed in a truly remarkable manner.

Somewhere at a major sports event in Australia or on the world stage, US Cultural nationalism is, either wittingly or unwittingly, promoted via the native game of Australian Rules Football, the FIFA World Cup Soccer (Football), the Australian Tennis Open and even the Olympic Games.

It’s an extraordinary environment in which US Cultural nationalism literally has free rein, with China and Russia shut out. Even the Russians use American sports terms. That’s how powerful and pervasive US Cultural nationalism is through sport. It speaks volumes of the highly effective US State Department’s sports diplomacy program and of the “soft power” of US pop culture to indoctrinate unsuspecting masses.

One of the most effective strategies for US cultural nationalism in Australia, or more precisely cunning smokescreens, is to have Australian sports bodies use “anti colonialism,” in which Australia Day and British colonialism are condemned but, whilst the Australian public’s attention is distracted, is to slip in US cultural nationalism. Ironically, US cultural nationalism has nasty colonial issues with native Americans, and the legacy of African American slavery. It is estimated 4 to 8 million native Americans (Indians) were exterminated in North America.

US NFL is one of the most racist sports bodies in the world. It has been repeatedly condemned by native Americans. Recently, prominent African American journalist Jim Trotter sued the NFL for racist behaviour and won an out of court settlement.
