COLLATERAL DAMAGE? Macedonia

COLLATERAL DAMAGE?

Macedonia is caught between a rock and a hard place. The Macedonian government, Centre-right in orientation, is pro EU/NATO and pro US President Trump. Macedonia could get squashed in the current political fight between EU/NATO and the US over Ukraine and, the hitherto united, Western defence/ foreign policy.

Macedonia could be collateral damage. So many known unknowns & unknown unknowns!

There is a US template that was given to US Congress in 2017 by US “expert” Professor Daniel Serwer, a Trump critic, which “hypothesises” the US or EU militarily occupying & partitioning Macedonia between a Greater Albania & probably Bulgaria, if Macedonian nation-state building fails – [disingenously the US has made Macedonia deliberately dysfunctional after the 2001 war in which it installed Albanian extremist proxies and turned Macedonia into a de-facto bi-national state undermining its unitary nature].

If US President Trump were to withdraw US from Europe then the EU could activate this template to satisfy its Albanian & Bulgarian proxies. Does President Trump support or not support the Serwer Scenario ?

Simply put, what are President Trump’s long term plans are for Macedonia? Does he support Greece, Bulgaria, and the Albanian factor at Macedonia’s expensive?

Historically the UK, France, Germany, and later US, have all been Greece’s powerful patrons and protectors.

The US, UK, Germany and EU changed Macedonia’s name and erased its identity to satisfy Greek bullying. This was done to induce Greece to remove its veto of Macedonia joining both NATO and EU.

As a consequence, the hated Prespa Agreement was imposed in 2018 upon my Macedonia which ties it to disowning its own heritage to appease Greece. Macedonia was then allowed to join NATO but not the EU, which is being held up by EU member Bulgaria making demands, tantamount to extortion. In effect delivering the killer blow to what was left of Macedonian identity after the Prespa Agreement.

But the question is if President Trump wants to dismantle NATO then what is the point of Macedonia changing its name? Will he maintain the status quo? Will the US permit Macedonia to get rid of the Prespa Agreement?

The indications are that President Trump is pro Greek, even though his arch enemy the US Deep State is Greece’s long term backer.

Bulgaria, since joining both NATO and the EU, and having 4 strategically important US / NATO military bases on its soil, has been able to use all of that to its advantage against Macedonia.

Will those bases still remain strategically important? Again we don’t know.
